Hey there! I’m Kim, the owner of The Pottery Room, and I’m on a mission to help people discover the joy of creating something with their own two hands.
I didn’t start out as some fancy pottery expert – I was actually just a stressed-out mom looking for a quiet escape from my kids (parents, you know what I’m talking about!). That weekly pottery painting session quickly became my happy place, and now I get to create that same experience for others in our Clarksville community.
(It Wasn’t Exactly Planned)
I never actually set out to own a pottery studio. Seriously! I started as just a regular customer who needed some “me time” away from my kids. Those weekly painting sessions became my little escape, and I got to know the staff and even took a few wheel classes.
When the previous owner asked if I’d teach a few classes, I thought “Sure, why not?” Then one day, she approached me about buying the business. Talk about unexpected! In summer 2016, I took the leap – while STILL teaching fifth-grade science full-time (because apparently I enjoy chaos).
After juggling both jobs for six and a half years (yes, I’m a little bit crazy), I finally resigned from teaching to run The Pottery Room full-time. And honestly? I’m loving it. There are definitely challenges (huge understatement), but helping people discover the joy of creating something with their own hands makes it all worthwhile.
Do I have fancy credentials? Nope! I have what I call “massive imposter syndrome” – I’m constantly waiting for someone to figure out I’m just making this up as I go. But my love for ceramics and passion for helping people create something special seems to be working so far!
(We’re Kind of Pottery Obsessed)
Here’s what makes us different: we’re laser-focused on ceramic arts ONLY. No glass fusing, no canvas painting, no acrylics – just pottery. This means:
This focus means whether you’re making a birthday plate that’ll become a family tradition, creating a gift for grandparents, or just looking for a place to relax and get creative, we’ve got exactly what you need.
And the best part? You don’t need ANY experience. That nervous feeling when you first walk in? I promise it’ll turn into “I can’t believe I made this! This looks way better than I expected!” when you pick up your finished piece.
When I’m not covered in clay (which isn’t often, let’s be real), you’ll find me:

My personal obsession? Our monthly clay workshops. I absolutely LOVE playing with clay – whether I’m throwing on the wheel, hand-building, or pressing leaves I found on my runs into clay to make platters. I’m the person who can’t take a simple jog without thinking, “Ooh, that leaf would make an awesome impression in clay!” It’s become a bit of an obsession, but the best kind.
No appointment needed! Browse hundreds of pieces, choose your colors, and let your creativity flow.
Get your hands in some clay with our monthly workshops – my personal favorite!
Birthday parties, team building, or just a fun night out – we’ll make it memorable.
